Trey James Commits To Wake Forest

2021 recruit Trey James is headed to Wake Forest

2021 three star recruit Trey James announced his intention to play college basketball at Wake Forest. James is a 6’10” center with skill that can impact the game due to his size but also by knocking down jump shots. Big men that can step out and make outside shots are becoming more prevalent in the game today, and James definitely can be a player in that mold. He is not the quickest big man you will watch, and his vertical leap is below average compared to his peers so his skill set becomes even more important. While his jump shot is an intriguing part of his game he does the most damage down low with his back to the basket, and he should be able to score in the post as soon as he gets on campus. There is a lot to like in his game and with coaching he can be developed into an impact big man at the college level. As a defender he blocks shots well, and while does run the floor fairly well, he can struggle with quicker more athletic big men in the open court.

James is ranked #171 by 247 Sports, and he is not ranked by Rivals, or ESPN in the class of 2021. He did not hold any other major offers outside of Wake Forest, however the Demon Deacons could be getting a steal when you consider his potential on the offensive side of the floor. Competing for Meanstreets in the EYBL he averaged 2.7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game in 16.7 minutes per game.
