Duke Freshman Wendell Moore Jr. will be out indefinitely after injuring his hand in Duke’s 95-62 win over Miami on Saturday. He underwent a successful surgery and will now work to get back on the floor, which is expected to be this season. Moore Jr. has been a solid contributor for the Blue Devils this season averaging 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2 assists in 22.1 minutes per game. No timetable has been announced by the school for his return other than the fact that it is not anticipated to keep him out for the remainder of the season.
Duke has been hit with injuries all season but should they be healthy when the tournament comes around they will be one of the favorites in Vegas. As a freshman at Duke there are always high expectations but Moore Jr. was not considered to be a lock to play one season in college, however given the potential that he has shown some are projecting him to be possible selection in the 2020 draft. We have him going in our 2021 mock draft at #36 overall, and it would not be considered a stretch at this point to say he could be a first round pick at some point.
