Michigan State star guard Cassius Winston missed the teams 95-62 win over Western Michigan as he deals with a bone bruise in his left knee. Winston is averaging 17.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 2 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game this season. This is not expected to be a longer term injury but it is something to watch as the Spartans have already lost Josh Langford for the season. Michigan State plays Illinois next which will be a much tougher match up that could be a loss with or without Winston on the floor.
Entering this season Winston was considered one of the favorites for National Player of The Year, and while he has been productive he has not done much to show NBA teams anything that they do not already know about his game. He should be taken somewhere in the second round due to being undersized, but there is no doubt that he will be a professional at some level after his senior season.
