North Carolina will indefinitely be missing their star freshman point guard Cole Anthony, who has been one of the top scorers in college basketball this season. Anthony did not play against Wofford in a game that showed how valuable he is to the team as the Tar Heels lost the game 68-64. A timetable is being evaluated but nothing has been announced at this time, although it is expected to be longer than a short stint on the bench.
Anthony has been a well known scorer on the amateur level for many years and he lived up to the hype averaging 19.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 33.1 minutes per game. He is considered one of the top five or so prospects in the potential 2020 draft class, but given the wide open nature of this years class, his actual draft position could vary. Assuming he will be back this season, Anthony has the ability to take over games and lead a team on a run late into the season so the Tar Heels need him to be healthy as soon as possible considering he is still just a freshman despite his elite skill set. As long as this injury does not effect his long term health it should not play a factor in his overall stock as we get closer to the 2020 draft.
