2020 small forward Mawot Mag has committed to play his college basketball at Rutgers. Mag is a 6’8″ small forward that can play at the power forward position as well who is not the quickest player on the floor so it is likely he will spend time at the four in college. His strength and frame are impressive considering his age and he he will enter the next level with the necessary physical make up. How well he shoots the ball going forward is an area that will play a large role in his overall success, as well as how he adapts to the better athletes in college. The strongest part of his game is when he attacks with the ball in his hands, and with his strength he can create mismatches depending on steps in front. There is a solid base to work with given his size and build, he will just need to continue to improve on his weaknesses and he has a chance to impact the Rutgers program in a positive way.
Mag is ranked not ranked by any of the three major recruiting services, although Rivals has him as an unranked three star while ESPN and 247 Sports do not have him in their star rankings. This is now the third pick up for the Scarlet Knights in the class of 2020 adding Mag to two other three star recruits who are both forwards. Unheralded three stars do not usually get much media coverage but if they have the physical tools and a strong work ethic, there is a shot they can get to the professional level, and Mag has displayed those attributes up to this point.
