Bryce Thompson joined the 2020 recruiting class for the Kansas Jayhawks, marking the first commitment for the program since the notice of allegations from the NCAA. Thompson is a five star by all three major recruiting services standing at 6’5″ and 175 pounds with the ability to play either guard position. He is a confident scorer who specializes in taking a defender off of the dribble, and he can shoot the ball well with range making him a very hard assignment as a defender. . His athleticism is solid and he has the physical make up with speed, quickness and length that should make him a formidable defender at the next level.
He averaged 25.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game on the UAA circuit. His final four consisted of Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and North Carolina. This is a big pick up for a program that is not entirely certain of what will happen with the NCAA looking into past actions, and he should make an immediate impact as a scorer. Thompson is ranked #19 by Rivals, #15 by 247 Sports, and #25 by ESPN in the class of 2020.
