Seton Hall got some bad news today that their star guard Myles Powell has a serious ankle sprain. He injured the ankle during a 74-57 win against Stony Brook just five minutes into the game. Powell has been one of the best scorers in the college game the last couple of years and with the expectation being that he will miss significant time this is a big blue to the Pirates. The game against Stony Brook was also the return of coach Kevin Willard after he was suspended for two games to start the season.
Assuming that he is able to return to his pre-injury form there should be plenty of time for Powell to make an impact this season and in the postseason. He could have stayed in the draft last year and possibly of been drafted but he wanted to come back for another season to chase team success as well as an improved draft stock. This will definitely hurt his stock if he is unable to get back healthy enough to be the high level scorer he has been, but there is a long time left in the season before that becomes a more realistic situation. Powell scored 27 points in the teams opener against Wagner.
